Originally from Boston, Melissa has observed a wide variety of social clichés when it comes to hair styles and trends in hair extensions, and believes that everyone should be able to access and afford the hair of their dreams . . . thus the creation of Extensions of Yourself.
Melissa is an experienced hair extension artist and stylist whose passion is to bring out the natural beauty in everyone by enhancing their own individual features with the use of Luxury Quality Hair Extensions. Melissa has over 17 years of extensive training with the industries top hair extension companies in the newest techniques and sees hair extensions as her area of talent and specialty. Her passion for hair extensions enables her to install her own hair extensions, using the same methods and quality of hair as she uses on her clients.
My Own Hair
"Weaves were far too heavy for my fine, thin hair and my scalp became irritated.
I also hated the obvious ridge that was visible between the layers of my own hair and the weave. It was uncomfortable. I also tried braided extensions, these were even more harsh on my hair.
Another drawback was that the hair is curly/kinky texture, making a very obvious unnatural look compared to my straight/fine hair.
Hairpieces and wigs were not an option, especially being 14 and having an active lifestyle with sports etc. Needless to say not many 14 year olds were wearing wigs".
"I started looking into methods to help fine/thinning and balding hair at the age of 11. My father had become ill, and due to the stress my fine hair started thinning beyond my control.
As the stress increased in the years leading up to his passing, by the time I was 14 I was missing 30% of my hair. To this day it still has never all come back.
I had consults with all kinds of hair restoration specialists but being 14 years old, most hair replacement procedures were not an option because of the cost.
I experimented with numerous hair extensions for fine hair and thinning hair that were available at the time like weaves, braided extensions, hair pieces and wigs".
All my research led me to discover my true passion. I began practicing the methods I had learned on my own hair
For a year I had an amazing opportunity to work with women who for one reason or another had medical issues that made them suffer from hair loss. I volunteered to work with these amazing women, trying to give them back what they lost - their hair. Some cases were far more challenging than others, but this also forced me to be as creative as possible.
Since then I have focused all of my resources and education to staying current and up to date with the latest hair enhancement and hair extension trends. Over the last 17+ years I have maintained my own natural hair extensions using the EXACT methods I use on my clients so everyone can have the best quality hair extensions available for their specific needs utilizing top brands like Great Lengths and Hairdreams.

I am a daily wearer (or a lifer as I call those of us who will need help with extensions the rest of our life). I do my own extensions myself and I treat everyone's head like it's my own. I strive for everyone to have the most natural and blended hair extensions so that no one will be able to tell you have them.
